About the original M3 Half-track:
The M3 half-track was one of the most versatile armored vehicles of World War II, widely used by the U.S. military. It combined the maneuverability of a wheeled vehicle with the off-road capabilities of a tracked vehicle, serving in multiple roles such as troop transport, artillery towing, and battlefield support.

Produced from 1941 onward, the M3 could carry up to 13 soldiers. Powered by a 147 hp White 160AX six-cylinder engine, it reached a top speed of around 72 km/h (45 mph). Its armored cab provided protection against bullets and shrapnel, while the open fighting compartment was typically fitted with a .50 or .30 caliber machine gun to engage enemy infantry and light vehicles.

The M3A1 half-track introduced several upgrades, including an improved weapon mount with a ring-mounted M2 machine gun, significantly enhancing its firepower. This version saw extensive use across various theaters of war, playing a crucial role in battles throughout Europe and the Pacific.

Even after World War II, the M3 half-track remained in service with numerous armed forces worldwide, including in the Korean War. Its durable construction, ease of maintenance, and adaptability made it one of the most recognizable and widely used armored vehicles of its time, continuing to serve long after its initial deployment.
