History:
The Macchi MC.200 “Saetta” was an Italian fighter aircraft of the early Second World War. Introduced into service in 1939 with the Regia Aeronautica, it was known for its robust construction, good maneuverability, and reliability. Powered by an air-cooled radial engine, the MC.200 was less powerful than some contemporary fighters but proved durable and easy to handle. It saw operational service in the Mediterranean, North Africa, and on the Eastern Front, and served as the basis for later, more advanced Macchi fighter designs.
