About the original:
Produced by Piaggio from the late 1970s onwards, the Vespa PX became one of the most recognisable models in Italian two-wheeled history. With its unmistakable shape, pressed-steel monocoque body and handlebar-operated manual transmission, it remained faithful to the classic Vespa design concept.
Easy to ride and practical for everyday use, the Vespa PX was equally well suited to urban commuting and short leisure trips. It was offered with several engine sizes, including 125cc and 150cc versions, and gained a reputation for its robust and uncomplicated construction. With more than three million examples produced, it is regarded as the most widely manufactured and best-selling Vespa model of all time.
During the 1980s in particular, the Vespa PX became much more than a practical means of transport. Its appearances in films, music and fashion transformed it into an international lifestyle symbol. Even today, it remains an enduring expression of Italian design, individuality and the unmistakable spirit of “Made in Italy”.
