Historical background:
The Kriegsfischkutter – or KFK – was one of the most widely used small vessels of the German Kriegsmarine during World War II. Originally based on civilian fishing trawlers, it was developed from 1942 onwards into a robust and versatile multi-purpose craft, built in large numbers by over 40 shipyards.
Measuring approximately 24 meters in length and displacing around 110 tons, the KFK was compact but highly adaptable. It was employed in a range of roles including coastal patrol, minesweeping, convoy escort, and submarine hunting. Typical armament included anti-aircraft guns and depth charges, making it suitable for frontline duties.
