History:
The Ford Capri Zakspeed was one of the defining cars of the 1978 Deutsche Rennsport Meisterschaft (DRM). Developed by Zakspeed to Group 5 regulations, the car retained only the basic silhouette of the production Capri and represented one of the most radical touring car designs of its era. Powered by a turbocharged four-cylinder engine, it combined high performance with low weight and advanced aerodynamics.
The Mampe-sponsored car was part of Zakspeed’s official DRM lineup in the 1978 season and is especially remembered for its distinctive red-and-white livery. Driven by top drivers such as Klaus Ludwig, the Mampe Capri played a key role in the model’s success and helped establish the Ford Capri Zakspeed as an icon of the Group 5 era and the DRM.
