About the original Faun SLT 50-3 “Elefant”:
The Faun SLT 50 “Elefant” is a heavy tank transporter developed for the German Bundeswehr in the mid-1970s. With its robust 8×8 tractor unit and the SaAnh 52 t semi-trailer, it was designed to safely carry the newly introduced Leopard 2 main battle tanks.

Upgraded in the 1990s to the SLT 50-3 standard, the Elefant received a more powerful Deutz V12 diesel engine, improved crew ergonomics, and optional armor protection. With a payload capacity of over 50 tons, it served for decades as the backbone of German heavy transport and remains a distinctive symbol of modern military logistics.
